The hydrotherapy pool is 4 ½ ft deep,10ft x 8ft. The pool is kept clean, safe and conducive to the well being of those dogs being treated and those operating the centre. The water in which dogs are treated is safe from bacteria, virus and harmful micro-organisms.
A ramp is used for access to and from the water. Buoyancy aids are used initially to encourage confidence and are replaced with a harness according to the rehabilitation programme.
In some cases a hoist is used to allow entry into the pool.
All dogs are showered after their swim and either manually or blow dried.
Most importantly, dogs are given active encouragement whilst in the pool from the hydrotherapist, the owner and through the use of toys.
